Type what you remember, the way you’d describe it to a colleague:
  • “drone shot over the coastline at sunset”
  • “the part where she talks about the budget”
  • “close-up of hands typing on a keyboard”
Aspect searches everything it has indexed and returns the exact moments that match - not just the files. A result can drop you at the precise second of a two-hour recording.

What search looks through

One search covers every kind of signal Aspect has extracted: You don’t have to choose which one to search - results from all of them are blended and ranked together.

Search inside a single asset

When you already know which file you need, search within it. Open the asset and search to jump between every matching moment - every mention of a word in the transcript, or every moment that fits your description. This is the fastest way to navigate long footage.

Filters

Narrow any view or search with filters on the properties Aspect knows about each file:
  • File type: only videos, only images, only audio, or only documents.
  • Technical properties: duration, resolution, and other extracted metadata.
  • Your metadata: any custom fields your team has added (see Metadata).
Filters support precise conditions (equals, contains, greater than, less than, is set, is empty, and more), and you can combine several at once. You can also sort results by multiple fields.
Combine a natural-language query with filters: describe the moment you want, then filter to a file type or a metadata value to cut the results down fast.

Quick search from anywhere

Press Cmd+K (or Ctrl+K) anywhere in the app to open quick search and start typing - no need to navigate to a search page first.

Tips for better results

  • Describe, don’t keyword. “Two people arguing in a kitchen” works better than “argument kitchen”.
  • Quote what was said. If you remember a phrase from the dialogue, type it - the transcript search will find it.
  • Name the person. If someone has been identified in your workspace, include their name to find their shots.
  • Give indexing a moment. Freshly uploaded files appear in search as their indexing completes - see How AI indexing works.
