# Quickstart

> Upload your first files, watch Aspect index them, and find a moment by describing it - no setup required.

This walkthrough takes you from signing in to sharing your first file. You don't need to install anything - everything happens in your browser.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Sign in">
    Go to [app.aspect.inc](https://app.aspect.inc) and sign in. You'll land in your workspace - the home for everything your team keeps in Aspect.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create a project">
    Create a new project in your workspace. Projects are how you organize work - one per production, campaign, or client. Inside a project you can add folders to keep things tidy, just like on your computer.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Upload files">
    Drag and drop files, or entire folders, straight into your project. Videos, images, audio, and documents all work. You can keep browsing while uploads run in the background.

    See the [uploading guide](/docs/guides/uploading) for more ways to get files in.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Let the AI do its work">
    As soon as a file lands, Aspect's AI starts processing it: transcribing speech, understanding what's on screen, recognizing people, and reading metadata. You can watch progress directly on each asset.

    Indexing usually takes a few minutes, depending on file size. Learn more in the [AI indexing guide](/docs/guides/ai-indexing).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Search in plain English">
    Once files are indexed, describe what you're looking for the way you'd describe it to a person - "interview clips where someone mentions the budget" or "wide shots of the beach at sunset." Aspect finds the matching moments, not just matching filenames.

    The [search guide](/docs/guides/search) covers filters and more advanced searches.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open a file in the viewer">
    Click any asset to open it. For videos, you can play the footage, jump to any moment, and follow along with the transcript. See the [viewer and review guide](/docs/guides/viewer-and-review) for everything you can do here.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Leave a comment">
    Add a comment right in the viewer to give feedback or flag a moment for your team. Comments keep the conversation attached to the footage it's about.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Share it">
    Create a share link to send the file to someone outside your workspace - a client, a reviewer, anyone. They can view it without an account. The [sharing guide](/docs/guides/sharing) explains your options.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Tip>
  Working with big files or lots of footage? The [desktop app](/docs/apps/desktop) handles large transfers faster, and the [mounted drive](/docs/apps/mounted-drive) lets you browse Aspect projects right from Finder.
</Tip>
