## New features

- **Copy videos as lighter working files.** Turn on **Copy videos as proxies** in Copy To to create smaller MP4 copies while keeping your originals in place. The option is available in the web, desktop, and iPhone apps, and through connected MCP tools. Other file types copy as usual. On web and desktop, the transfer center shows progress, including videos waiting for their proxies to finish processing. Follow the [proxy-copy workflow](https://aspect.inc/docs/workflows/agentic-video-editing#3-copy-the-raw-footage-folders-as-proxies) to set up your working folders.

- **Review footage using its source timecode.** When your video has a recorded source timecode and usable frame rate, you can use that timecode in the player, timeline labels, and timed comments. Type a timecode to jump to the corresponding moment. You can also ask the Aspect assistant or a connected MCP client for timecodes from search results, transcripts, or comments, making those references easier to match in your editing app.

- **Review feedback across file versions.** Choose which versions’ comments to show in a version stack, then group them by version or read them together. Version badges identify each discussion, and opening or editing an older comment takes you to the version it belongs to.

- **Prepare offline files from the terminal.** Use `aspect pin` to add or remove pins and check their download status, and `aspect settings` to manage cache and pin limits. The CLI uses the same local storage settings as the desktop app and can reuse its sign-in while the app is running. [Check that your pins have finished downloading](https://aspect.inc/docs/cli/cache-and-offline) before going offline.

## Improvements

- **Find the right destination folder.** You can search for a folder directly in Move To and Copy To. Results show their paths, helping you distinguish folders with similar names. Long destination names also stay within the Copy To dialog’s width, keeping the options easy to reach.

- **Keep phone uploads moving.** Uploads from your phone browser adjust more carefully to the connection and keep the screen awake where supported. You also see a reminder to keep the page open, with progress visible while your files upload.

- **Let the browser finish your download.** Single-file downloads now run through your browser’s download manager, so you can leave the Aspect tab once the transfer starts. Filenames with international characters or quotation marks are also preserved more reliably. Folder ZIP downloads still need the Aspect page to stay open.

- **Understand your local storage and pin status.** Desktop settings distinguish cached files, pending uploads, and pinned media more clearly, with usage totals that reflect each group’s limits. Pin badges also update more reliably after downloads finish, files move, or the app reconnects.

- **Keep your place in file panels.** You can close a file’s preview or details panel to make more room, then reopen it on the same file without losing its state. Following a video comment link also selects the Comments tab in the appropriate pane, even if you were previously looking at another tab.

- **Set up your editing workflow with new guides.** New guides walk through shared media, proxies, offline preparation, and project handoffs in [Premiere Pro](https://aspect.inc/docs/workflows/premiere-pro), Avid Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, and [After Effects](https://aspect.inc/docs/workflows/after-effects). Refreshed walkthrough videos show the steps, and expanded CLI documentation covers transfers, mounting, and offline files.

## Bug fixes

- **Finish longer folder downloads in the browser.** Folder ZIP downloads can continue past the Chromium timeout that interrupted longer transfers. If a connection drops while reading a file, the download can retry from the data already received while the archive remains open.

- **Keep copies and uploads under control.** You can pause or cancel a transfer group when one file has failed and others are still running. Holding the paste shortcut no longer submits repeated copy jobs, and copying into a project works more reliably while an upload is finishing. Cancelling or resuming an upload also prevents an earlier attempt from interfering with the current one.

- **Keep pending mounted changes through a reconnect.** Folders you create and items you move or rename stay visible while those changes wait to sync, including when browsing available pinned content offline. After a restart, recoverable pending saves can also return to the upload queue once their local data is available and verified.

- **Keep Mac mount setup responsive.** A stale Aspect volume no longer blocks the drive service while it checks mounted locations. Setup stays responsive during the administrator prompt, and quitting during setup cancels the pending mount more cleanly.

- **Browse while your media keeps playing.** Playback updates no longer interrupt typing in the search field on a file’s page. Hover previews also preserve your footage’s proportions when thumbnails are set to Fill, cropping wide video to the card instead of squeezing it.

- **Follow links while reviewing on iPhone.** Opening an Aspect link takes you to its destination even if another viewer is already open. A link to a different location within the same share also opens the intended destination.
